LAGOS: Top Ghana telecom operator MTN Ghana has announced it will unveil time based data packages in the near future as a means of bolstering its market share in the data industry, which has already seen other countries make the move to similar options for their customers. One of those companies, Tigo Ghana, already offers three “unlimited" time based data options for its users, which allows customers to pay specific amounts for pre-paid packages for one-day, one-week or one-month usage. Other operators, including MTN, only offer packages measured in megabytes and gigabytes. The move should help boost MTN's market presence in the West African country. The company has already shown itself willing to push new ideas into the telecom sector. Last month the company announced new offerings to reduce the overall price of data usage and hopes that its continued efforts to increase services in the country will result in a greater rural upsurge in subscribers, a major market that has yet to be touched by the country's leading operators.
