ADDIS ABABA: Top Ethiopia female university students were awarded technology acknowledgements by China's Huawei this week. They were given the latest PAD system for their efforts. The students received their accolades at the 22nd Ethiopia National Training and Education Conference on Tuesday. Huawei said they hope the awards will help push more women into the technology sector in the country and across East Africa. In delivering the awards to the students, Education Minister Mekonnen Demeke said the contribution of Huawei to Ethiopia was unprecedented and added that the Chinese company can continue to bolster Ethiopia's technology and telecom sector. Huawei was also a co-sponsor of the conference that aimed to promote education and technological tools in the country. General Director of Huawei in EthiopiaAustin Pan said the company was “proud" of recognizing the female students in Ethiopia, adding that he believed it could be a catalyst to promoting female participation in the IT sector. “We are happy to award 22 top female graduates and 8 students from emerging regional states the latest PAD system of Huawei even the world. This pad system had the strongest hardware with the chip designed and produced by Huawei technologies,” said Pan.
