KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia's government announced that it would be expanding the “MyIdentity” system across all agencies early next year after it reported the success of the pilot project in four agencies. The Malaysian Administrative, Modernization and Management Planning Unit (Mampu) said on Tuesday evening that the project had shown it was ready to be expanded. Mampu Director-Genera Mohamad Zabidi Zainal said that since its introduction last December, “MyIdentity had made it easier for the public to deal with government agencies as they no longer need to give personal particulars over and over again.” “Through MyIdentity, they only need to provide MyKad and their personal particulars could be retrieved. “In addition, they can verify and update their personal particulars at any government agency equipped with MyIdentity,” he told Bernama after recording his interview on Bernama TV's ‘Hello Malaysia' program on Wisma Bernama on Tuesday. The “MyIdentity” pilot project had been implemented at the National Registration Department, the Immigration Department, the Road Transport Department and the Inland Revenue Board. On the National Transformation Program (GTP), Mohamad Zabidi said although Malaysia has improved its position in the Global Competitiveness Report 2011-2012 to 21st, efforts should be garnered to leapfrog the country to the 10th position as aspired by Prime Minister Najib Razak. “We are on the right track and the momentum should be stepped up to achieve the vision of becoming a developed nation. Hence, civil servants must play their role to the best of their ability in carrying out the tasks entrusted to them,” he said.
