NEW DELHI: Indian teachers appear to be in the cross hairs of their own students. Close on the heels of a teacher being run over by a student who wasn't allowed to cheat, another teacher has been hit on the head with an iron rod, by a student who the teacher had failed after he was caught indulging in examination malpractices. The teacher Ajay Kumar was admitted to hospital with a grievous head injury, but is said to be stable. The student is now absconding. The incident took place in Lord Mahavir School in Noida, which falls under the National Capital Region (NCR), which includes areas around the capital New Delhi. Principal of the school, P K Jain said that the assault took place when the student found the teacher alone. “The day the student was caught cheating, he returned to school with his father who requested that the student not be failed. I said that this was not possible. The student then returned after-hours alone, and saw his teacher sitting alone in a class room. He allegedly grabbed an iron rod and hit him,” Jain said. The teacher received six stitches above his eye as a result of the assault. In another even more shocking incident, another teacher who would not allow a student to cheat in an examination was crushed under a car by two unknown men. That incident also took place in the neighborhood of Delhi in Haryana State, when the teacher was walking home on Friday when two men reportedly asked him to allow a student to cheat.
