Youth call for protests April 20 against Mubarak friends in presidential race

CAIRO: The Political Affairs Committee of the Parallel Parliament of the Youth of the revolution called for staging massive protests on Friday April 20th, in Tahrir Square under the slogan “the people want to overthrow the remnants of the former regime” – and, to do so against the remnants of the former regime, in order to confirm the rejection to the candidacy of Omar Suleiman, Ahmed Shafiq, and called for banning them from exercising their political rights, as they insist on running for the presidency.
The parliament called for amneding Article 28, which grants the Higher Presidential Elections Committee, impunity from challenging its decisions.
For his part, Mohammed Awad, an official of the Committee of the Parliament of the Youth of the Revolution, decided to launch a campaign entitled “the people want to overthrow the remants of Mubarak,” to prevent the presidential candidates who belong to the former regime including Omar Suleiman and Ahmed Shafiq, the former Prime Minister and also Amr Moussa from running from presidential elections and called for a one million person prtoests on Friday April 20th.
Awad added that they will call on all political and revolutionary parties and movements to participiate in the campaign activities and events which will start with printing 50,000 posters with slogans “people want to overthrow the remnants,” and 50,000 statements to distribute in Cairo, Giza on the first day, pointing out that they have been coordinating with the Youth of the Revolution in 5 other governorates to participate in the events.
