CAIRO: Egypt's government has decided to resume the sailing of Nile cruises from Cairo to Aswan as of mid-May after a 15-year suspension. This comes within the framework of encouraging tourism. It was also decided to re-instate the Cairo-Tokyo flight on Egypt Air as of mid-April to attract Japanese tourists to Egypt. These remarks were made by Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Fayza Abul-Naga in a joint press conference with ministers of tourism and water resources and irrigation after a meeting with Ganzouri. The interior minister presented a detailed plan to provide security to these Nile cruises, marinas and different tourist sites, she said. “We are responsible for protecting tourists and citizens as well,” she said. Ganzouri will hold a meeting mid-April to follow up what has been implemented in this respect, said Tourism Minister Monir Fakhri Abdel-Nour. Abdel-Nour voiced optimism over restoring the level of tourism as security in the country is enhanced. Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Hisham Qandeel said that his ministry will focus on providing the sufficient water depth for the navigation of these ships and modern navigation systems.
