NEW DELHI: A 30-year-old India woman has been arrested for murdering her allegedly alcoholic and violence-prone husband and burying the corpse in their own bathroom. Varsha Patel, a resident of Meerut, a small township located on the outskirts of the capital New Delhi, was arrested after neighbors smelled foul play and informed the police. The Meerut Police have charged Varsha, a mother of two, with murder and attempts to wipe out evidence. “I have no regrets for what I did. My husband used to beat me and my children whenever he used to come back from work. After a point I could not take it,” Patel told reporters after her arrest. The deceased Rajinder was a former soldier who was working as a guard with a private security agency “The way he beat me up last night, I thought he would kill me. Later at night when he was asleep I took an iron bar and kept hitting him until he died. Then I dug a hole in the bathroom where I could buried him,” she said. Superintendent of police in Meerut (rural) Sudhir Kumar told Bikyamasr.com over telephone that neighbors who were looking for the missing Ranjinder smelt foul play and informed the police. “We have arrested her. As of now she has confessed that she has committed the murder alone. We will question her to find out if there were accomplices,” Kumar said.
