LAGOS: The MTN Ghana Foundation has contributed a total GHC59,524.06 worth of items and services to support Tamale Senior High School in the Northern Region in Ghana. They provided street lights, sanitation facilities and sports items and learning materials The Foundation also commissioned a 12-seater sanitary facility for the school as well as library books, sport kits, laboratory stools, shelves and street lights. In statement, MTN explained that this support is in line with their commitment to support the development and promotion of quality education in Ghana across all levels. The company is also committed to enrich the lives of Ghanaians with improved educational facilities and materials. Nabilla Williams, a board member of MTN Ghana stated, “MTN Ghana recognizes the important role education plays in the development of individuals, communities and nations. Education also shapes attitudes, helps people realize their talent and potential. It is therefore important that as a nation we create the enabling environment that will help the youth develop their physical and mental abilities for the development of the country,” Williams said. She further assured the people saying, “It is unfortunate that the numerous fiber cuts as a result of construction works across the country adversely affect our provision of quality service – but we remain resolute to our commitment and will ensure that network challenges in the region are mitigated.” The Tamale Regional Coordinating Director, Dasana, however commended MTN for its nationwide CSR initiatives.
