LAGOS: Nigeria telecom giant, Globacom has taken fixed line services on its Broad access network to Ibadan. The company aims to offer voice, data transmission and internet services to customers in the city. Other services that will be made available on Glo Broad access are broadcast TV, call centre services, video conferencing, video-on-demand, games and video mail box. Several customers have already been connected to the Glo network in the city and are already enjoying the services according to a statement from the Broad access Department of the company. The fixed line services currently covers residential, commercial as well as industrial areas, which includes Agodi, Federal Secretariat road, Jericho, Cocoa House, Adamasingba, Fajuyi road, Lebanon Street and Awolowo way. Other areas covered are Magazine Road, Forestry Road and several others. The statement further reveals, “The network which provides a data communication technology that enables faster data transfer begins to operate immediately in high density traffic areas of Ibadan. But we plan to rapidly expand and bring the service to the doorsteps of all potential subscribers as soon as possible.” Globacom launched its Broad access network in Lagos recently following a roll-out of fibre rings across the country and installation of last-mile infrastructure in major cities.
