Dubai to host large veterinary conference
Published in Bikya Masr on 18 - 03 - 2012

DUBAI: Some 50 leading international suppliers of the latest veterinary technology, supplements, vaccines and instruments are to be on show in Dubai next month as part of the largest veterinary industry event in the Middle East.
The expo and conference is to run from April 2 through 4 under the host, VET Middle East, and aims to spotlight what organizers say is “an increasingly dynamic animal healthcare sector, providing a dedicated platform for exhibitors to expand their presence in the region's growing veterinary industry.”
Already local veterinarians are optimistic that the event will help push forward health and care of animals in the region, which has long been void of any substantial animal healthcare system except a small number of private vets.
“It is going to be a solid event and one that will give us an eye into the latest options available and for other doctors in the region, it will be very nice for them to see the technology that will benefit the animal,” Omar Ridalla, a Dubai-based private home-to-home animal care doctor, told Bikyamasr.com.
Exhibitors from the US, China, Europe and Africa will take part, as they look to showcase their latest products and establish long term partnerships with veterinary hospitals, distributers, and government municipality departments in the region.
Henke-Sass Wolf, the German manufacturer of animal medical application systems, syringes and needles, is set to launch its new injection bar and automatic self-filling syringe designed specifically for the regional market.
The 85-year old company sees the Middle East as a key emerging market for veterinary supplies, as the European economy continues to struggle through the Euro Zone crisis.
Stefan Knefel, VP of Sales and Marketing, said, “we have been concentrating our sales and marketing activities in the Middle East for the last six to 12 months, as we see a very strong market growth in this region for the foreseeable future.
“We are now developing new products specifically designed for the Middle East, and this is the only event where we can present these products to a wide regional audience under one roof. The expo has become a crucial element of our marketing strategy, and we consistently bring in positive results,” he noted.
Diagon, a Hungarian manufacturer of clinical diagnostics also expect lucrative opportunities from the Middle East veterinary market; it is forecasting its revenue generated from the Middle East region to increase by 51 percent in 2012 reaching $5 million.
Richard Pavitt, the exhibition director of VET ME said, “as the only dedicated veterinary platform in the region, VET Middle East is experiencing rapid year on year growth, this year attracting major organisations such as Gulf Drug, Henke-Sass Wolf, Andover, Gulf Rider, and Vetessa.”
Supported by the Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority, the expo runs in tandem with the Veterinary Outlook Forum, presenting the latest technology, equipments, medicines and other products and services for animal care.
