ATHENS (dpa) – An armed man injured three people and took two others hostage, barricading himself in a Greek factory in the northern city of Komotini, state broadcaster NET reported Thursday, quoting police sources. Special police units had surrounded the factory, which produces plastic products, an officer said. Psychologists attempted to persuade the man, who was armed with a hunting rifle and described as “enraged,” to surrender. The three injured were reported to be out of danger. They were identified by Greek media as one of the factory's owners, an employee and a police officer. Unconfirmed reports said the man was 62 years old and had been laid off by the factory eight months ago. BM
