LAGOS: Hacking in Nigeria has taken a new toll as Nigerian celebrities are now the latest target. Hackers recently claimed to have accessed the Twitter and Facebook accounts of at least 30 Nigerian celebrities. The hacker is already tweeting from the highlife singer's account @FLAVOURNABANIA and has promised to hack the accounts of D'banj, Donjazzy, Tuface, Wizkid and Banky as well as other celebrity Twitter and Facebook accounts he claims to have access to. “Beware,” it has warned other Nigerian celebrities on the social network. The hacker also vowed to attack accounts of politicians, saying: “Imagine tweeting porn pictures from Politicians twitter account.” Meanwhile the Naija Cyber Hacktivists group has waded into the matter, delivering the following warning to the hacker: “@NaijaCyberHack: Hello 2whosoever is behind this account @FLAVOURNABANIA .Yo bn CLOSELY monitored.Be rest assured ur real identity wil b disclosed!” Government officials said that they are monitoring the situation closely and are looking at implementing a number of new strategies to crackdown on illegal hacking and the theft of persons identities in the country. The federal government has already implemented a number of new schemes to crackdown on the illicit use of the Internet, especially email scams that attempt to steal money from other users.
