CAIRO: A road accident in Egypt's Sinai Peninsula near the Red Sea resort town of Sharm el-Sheikh has left at least 10 people dead, the country's state television reported on Thursday morning. The accident occurred when a public bus and a truck collided on a road around 45 kilometers outside the town, the broadcaster reported, quoting security sources. Five others were injured in the crash, according to the report. Some 6,000 people are killed on Egypt's motorways annually as a result of poor street regulations and a lack of seat belts being worn. The government has attempted to implement a series of road reforms in recent years, but they fell on deaf ears. A number of Hungarian tourists were killed in a Sinai accident earlier this year.
