CAIRO: One Egyptian died and four others were wounded including three Polish tourists while on their way from Hurghada in the Red Sea to Luxor when their bus was pushed off the road and smashed by a truck on Monday morning, a security source said. The three tourists, two women and one man, were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, but no details on their injuries have been released. The collision took place at the entrance of Armount town after a speeding heavy truck hit the tour bus, throwing it onto the side of the highway, forcing it to turn on itself. Also on Monday a man died and five others were injured on the road between Minya al-Qamh and Zaqazeeq in the Nile Delta region north of Cairo when their car collided head on with another vehicle. Unmonitored speeding and poor road conditions are behind the high numbers of Egypt's lethal road accidents. Recent reports mention that approximately 6,000 Egyptians die every year from car accidents.
