CAIRO: At least 7 people have been killed by Egyptian police as clashes and street battles continue into the third day on Saturday across the country. Five people have been reportedly killed in the port city of Suez and two reported dead in Cairo. Thousands of others have been injured in the clashes, as a result of barrages of tear gas, the use of rubber bullets and birdshot in an attempt to disperse protesters. Those killed in Suez were shot in the chest, medical sources said. “We won't stop until we bring them down,” said one 15-year-old protester, sitting on the sidewalk some 40 meters from the frontlines. He told Bikyamasr.com that he wanted “justice” and wouldn't stop until the protesters were successful. Thousands had gathered at the intersection of Mansour Street – which leads directly to the interior ministry – and Mohamed Mahmoud – the site of November's violent clashes that left at least 70 people dead, medical sources told Bikyamasr.com then. With each tear gas and rubber bullet attack, the protesters would scamper in different directions, but would return shortly thereafter to toss rocks at the Armored Personnel Carriers (APC) and the riot police. The battles seem certain to continue into the night. One soldier was killed early Friday while on duty near the Interior Ministry headquarters in Cairo, according to security sources. He was backed over by his own colleagues. BM ShortURL: http://goo.gl/WFtXD Tags: Cairo, featured, MOI, Protests, Suez Section: Egypt, Latest News
