CAIRO: Egypt's Attorney General Abdel Meguid Mahmoud has barred the governor of Port Said Ahmed Abdullah Ahmed, Egyptian Football Association's former chief Samir Zahran and Director of Port Said security Essam el-Din Abdel Hamid Samak from traveling outside the country as they face investigation over violence at a Port Said stadium on Wednesday that left 75 people dead. Hundreds more were injured in the clashes, which eyewitnesses said were the doing of security forces, who allowed people onto the pitch following the Ahly and Masry match, as well as closing the gates to the stadium's exits, which left people inside. The decision by the Attorney General also includes the Director General of the Central Security Forces of the Suez Canal Zone, Major General Abdul Aziz Sami Fahmy, and Amr Ahmed Abdel Mawla Bakheet commander of security forces of Port Said, and Saad Muhammad Yunus Moawad, director of the Port Said Stadium. The Attorney General informed the department of immigration and passports of the decision, so that it can inform all ports of the country for its implementation and list the names mentioned on those barred from traveling, until the end of investigation. He also ordered the imprisonment of 52 suspects in Wednesday's clashes for 15 days pending investigation, and charged them with “premeditated murder and attempted murder and terrorizing citizens and setting fire to the facilities, bullying and destruction of public and private property.” Massive protests across the governorates of Cairo, Alexandria and Suez broke out following the massacre, and resulted in the death of at least five protesters and thousands others injured in two days of battles, mostly injured in the clashes currently ongoing between the security and protesters on Mansour street and Mohamed Mahmoud Street only a few meters away from the Ministry of Interior.
