CAIRO: Sudanese President Omar Hassan Al-Bashir received a letter from Egypt's interim military ruler Field Marshall Hussein Tantawi on Sunday in Khartoum regarding bilateral relations between the two neighboring states. Egypt's Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohammad Kamel Amr delivered the letter to Khartoum, seeking closer cooperation with Egypt's southern neighbor. “During the talks with President Al-Bashir, we agreed to reactivate the agreement on wheat cultivation in Sudan with Egyptian workforce and prepare for other agreements in the domain of food security,” Amr reported. Bilateral ties between Egypt and Sudan have steadily solidified. Egypt has supported Sudan in international forums and has helped in negotiations between Sudan and South Sudan. “President Al-Bashir instructed forming a joint mechanism for stepping up the implementation of a number of major development projects,” Sudan's Minister of Foreign Affairs Ali Karti told the press. “The planned committee will be co-chaired by the foreign ministers of the two countries with the ministries of agriculture, energy, mining and irrigation being represented,”he continued.
