Belgium records around 100 women with scandal-tainted PIP implants

Brussels (dpa) – Around 100 women in Belgium have reported that they have breast implants from the scandal-tainted French company Poly Implant Prothese (PIP), the Le Soir newspaper reported Saturday, as worries about their rupture risk continued to spread across Europe.
The president of the Royal Belgian Society for Plastic Surgery told the daily that the number could still change.
“We don't know if it is a number that is close to the total or only partial,” Jean-Luc Nizet said.
Three Belgians have officially reported an implant rupture to the country's agency for the surveillance of health products. Another woman is said to have had her implants preventively removed.
