Hong Kong (dpa) – Five people died when a bus ploughed into a crowd at a busy border crossing between Hong Kong and China, officials said Wednesday. Witnesses quoted by Hong Kong radio station RTHK said the bus accelerated suddenly, mounting the pavement and knocking down the victims and dragging some of them along. Mainland police arrested the driver, who was believed to have accidentally stepped on the accelerator rather than the brake. Lo Wu is one of the busiest borders crossings in the world, accounting for around 85 percent of all passenger movements between Hong Kong and China.
