Hong Kong (dpa) – Friends and family of a Canadian student missing in Hong Kong for six days launched a Facebook page Tuesday to try to find him. Police said Joey Basha, 25, from Newfoundland, was last seen on December 21 by his flatmate. The Facebook site “Find Joey Basha” says he appeared to be in an “altered state of mind” when he left with friends quoted in the local media as saying he was talking in a “clumsy” way. One posting on the page Tuesday claimed his mother in Canada had been told by Hong Kong police that he had been found dead although no information was given about the cause. Police declined to confirm the report when contacted by dpa. Basha moved to Hong Kong in 2008 and was studying for a master's degree in international and public affairs at Hong Kong University. He is the second Canadian to go missing in Hong Kong, which has a reputation as being a safe city. In 2008, Canadian tourist Ani Ashekain, 33, disappeared after arriving in Hong Kong from Beijing. She has never been found. BM ShortURL: http://goo.gl/YP3G4 Tags: Canada, Facebook, Hong Kong, Joey Basha, Page Section: East Asia, Latest News, North America
