Four Saudi Arabian female student were banned from attending their exams for “wearing tight skirts” on the school premises, the Emarati 24 News reported. In October of last year, Saudi Arabia warned its female students against wearing tight clothes in school, which according to officials, breaks the school codes and goes against Islamic teachings. “All schools are asked not to allow female students to wear clothes that violate school rules and Islamic teachings, including those which are tight, after we noticed some of them are wearing such attires,” a published statement by the ministry of education said. Women in Saudi are obliged to wear a loose, mostly black dress that covers the body, and in some areas of the Gulf kingdom, the eyes. The four university female students were barred last week from attending their mid-year exams after the management saw that their dress violated the school's laws. The university in the district of Hail in the northern part of the country, said they are ensuring that all students are dressed properly and according to the rules. In 2002, some 14 female students were burned to death after a fire erupted at their school in Mecca and the men of the Committee to Prevent Vice and the Promotion of Virtue stopped the firemen from reaching the girls because they were not covering their hair. The committee also known locally as “the religious police” locked the doors from the outside to prevent the girls from escaping, and in the process banned the firemen accesses to the girls inside.
