Thousands of Tunisian protesters, mainly supporters of the opposition Salvation Front besides other opposition parties, rallied at Bardo Square in front of the National Constituent Assembly on Saturday evening. The Salvation Front called for the protests to mourn 40 days since the death of opposition leader and left-wing lawmaker Mohamed Brahmi, who died in July. Party representatives, women and local youth organizations took part in the march that started from Bab Sa'doun in the capital and later headed to Bardo Square. Party members who had participated in the protests said that after withdrawing their membership status from the parliament that they would next be holding an open hunger strike starting from Sunday until the parliament is dissolved and the government resigns. The protests come after earlier negotiations between opposition parties and cabinet ministers failed.
