‘Maktoob' launches entertainment, celebrity web series for ME

Yahoo! Maktoob has announced the debut of two new web series focused on entertainment and celebrity news for the Middle East: OMG! Nujoom in Arabic, and OMG! Now in English. Both online shows cover film and entertainment events, celebrity news and gossip, and all the latest in showbiz from the Middle East, Bollywood, and Hollywood.
Hosted by Jessica Kahawaty, Miss Australia 2012,and produced by Attitude Enterprises exclusively for Yahoo! Maktoob, each show runs twice a week, and will have a big focus on local and regional content, including coverage of movie premieres, film festivals, and exclusive interviews with international and regional celebrities.
AmiraRashad, Acting Head of Media, Yahoo! Maktoob, said, “Our OMG! and entertainment sites are some of the most popular properties on the Yahoo! Maktoob network. Many of our users keep up with entertainment and celebrity news as part of their daily online habits, and now Yahoo! Maktoob is bringing this content to them with two new original video productions.”
She added, “OMG! Nujoom and OMG! Now are truly unique video offerings, as they are produced especially for the web, and are tailored for the regional and local tastes. We think audiences are going to be very pleased with both the format and the great content.”
Jessica Kahawaty, the fresh faced host of the show, is a Lebanese Australian. She was named Miss Australia 2012 and was 2nd runner up in Miss World 2012. Born in 1988 in Sydney, Australia, she has a degree in Law and Business Finance from the University of Technology Sydney, and has had a career in modeling, including global campaigns for the likes of Maybelline cosmetics in India, Lexus in Australia, and Pepsi NEX in Japan.
On hosting the programs, Jessica said, “I'm really thrilled to be part of these fantastic shows. Yahoo! Maktoob is bringing something really new to the market in this region, and I look forward to connecting with both the Arabic and English speaking audiences on their sites.”
