Egyptian-US Talks Aims Boosting Intra-region Trade, Joint Investments

The minister of Industry and Foreign Trade, Hatem Saleh, has emphasized the significance of setting new vision and strategy for the future of the economic and commercial relations between Egypt and the USA. The strategy should focus on achieving the joint interests for both countries, in a general framework of cooperation with determined aims and timing to contribute to raising the rates of commercial exchange in the coming period.
After finishing his meeting with the delegation of the US government, which was headed by Ambassador Miriam E. Sapiro-Deputy US Trade Representative, Hatem Saleh said the current commercial relations between the two countries don't reflect the depth of the bilateral ties. Therefore, new channels should be created to promote both economic and commercial relations between Egypt and the USA during the forthcoming period; in addition to preparing the convenient climate to inject US investments for establishing new ventures in Egypt. The Egyptian government should commit to resolving any obstacles that face the US companies in Egypt, Saleh added.
The joint cooperation between Egypt and the USA is a mainstay of bolstering stability in the Middle East. The US side should have an effective role in sustaining the Egyptian economy in the coming period to enhance and deepen the joint economic cooperation on different levels for the interest of the two countries.
En. Hatem Saleh mentioned that the meeting had also tackled the necessity of resuming the negotiations between the two sides to facilitate the intra-region trade, set a mechanism to boost the US investments in Egypt, besides the cooperation in the field of developing the small and middle entrepreneurs, which contribute to providing more new job opportunities.
The US ambassador Marriam E. Sapiro, on her part, stated that her country keens on expanding and deepening the joint strategic relations with Egypt, particularly the economic field; referring that Egypt is one of the most important commercial partners in the Middle East.
She expressed her willing to witness positive developments in the joint economic relations in the coming period through resuming the negotiations with Egyptian side to conclude to comprehensive program that sustain the Egyptian economy.
