The Sultanate will be hosting the festival, in the Governorate of Dhofar for the first time during the period September 8-15, 2012. It is expected that all GCC countries will also participate. The opening ceremony of the 12th Gulf Stage Festival, which will be held at the Stage of the Directorate General of Heritage and Culture in the Governorate of Dhofar, will be under the auspices of HE Sheikh Khalid bin Omar Al Marhoun, Minister of Civil Service. It will be attended by Ministers and Under-Secretaries, including the respective heads of the Gulf countries' delegations taking parting in the festival. A number of workshops and cultural events will be organised. It is expected that all the stage-related events will be held at the Stage of the Directorate General of Heritage and Culture, including the Stages of Dhofar Municipality, Technical and Applied Sciences Colleges, and Dhofar University. The Organizing Committee of the Stage Festival will also arrange familiarisation and tourist visits for the participating delegates to certain historic and tourist locations, as well as holding poetry recital evenings.
