Japan's automaker giant, Nissan Motor is planning to raise its market share in Egypt by 10 percent within the coming period, managing director of Nissan Motor Egypt, Isao Sekiguchi said Wednesday.
Nissan currently has a market share of 11 percent in Egypt, Sekiguchi stated.
Sekiguchi made his remarks during a press conference held on the sidelines of the Automech Formula auto show which is running in Cairo from 16 to 21 March.
Nissan's investments in Egypt are worth more than $100 million in addition to a factory operating with three shifts running around the clock, he added.
Sunny and Sentra cars represent 80 percent of Nissan's sales in the Egyptian market, the managing director noted.
Moreover, Nissan is also planning to increase the number of distributors in Egypt within this March to 36 nationwide to fill the clients' requirements, Sekiguchi revealed.
The Automech Formula is an important specialised auto show in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. It is accredited by the World Organisation of Automobile Manufacturers (OICA) and the Global Association of Exhibition Industry (UFI). The auto show attracts 500,000 visitors across its six–day span. The festival takes place on an area of over 45,000sqm, divided into eight halls.
