Tunnels Authority starts Phase 3 of Cairo Metro Line 3 Soon

National Authority for Tunnels (NAT) to start implementing the third phase of Egypt's Cairo Metro Third Line next October, Chairman Ismail El-Nagdy told Amwal Al Ghad Thursday.
The Route of phase three extends from El-Attaba to Rod El-Farag corridor, passing through Al-Kit Kaat up to Cairo Unversity station of line 2 with a total length of 18 Km, it comprises 14 stations.
The chairman stated that the third phase includes three parts: part one extends from Attaba to Al-Kit Kat with a total length of 4 Km, it comprises (3) tunnel stations ( Naser - Maspyro - Al-Kit Kat) .
The second part extends from Al-Kit Kat to Rod EL-Farag station , passing through Embaba area , with a total length of 6.6 Km ,this part comprises 6 stations ;one tunnel station , one surface station and 4 elevated station.
The six stations are: Al-Sudan - Embaba - El-Bohy - El-Qawmya El-Arabia - Ring Road - Rod El-Farag .
El-Nagdy further added that the third part extends from Al-Kit Kat to Cairo university, passing through Al-Mohandseen and Bolak El-Dakror areas with a total length of 7.2 Km .
It will include five stations (3 tunnels stations, one elevated station and one a surface station). The stations will be ( Al-Tawfikya - Wadi El-Nile - Gamaet Al-Dowal - Bolak Al-Dakror - Cairo University )
The Cairo Metro Line 3 extends from Cairo's the northwest district of Imbaba to the northeast nearby the Cairo airport. The line will cross the River Nile twice, once at the western branch between Imbaba and Zamalek Island, and again at the eastern branch between Zamalek and downtown Cairo. The total length of the line is approximately 30.6 km, of which 28.1 km is an underground section.
El-Nagdy added that the authority has received €900 million from The European Investment Bank (EIB) and the French Development Agency (AFD) to fund the phase.
