Ericsson and Etisalat Egypt have won Global Telecoms Business Innovation 2015 Award for the ‘New Day – New Idea' project, which gives subscribers better access to flexible mobile data services, Ericsson announced in a statement Tuesday.
Winning in the category of wireless network infrastructure innovation, Ericsson and Etisalat were honored during a ceremony held at The GTB Innovation Awards in London in May. The Global Telecoms Business Innovation Awards highlight innovative projects in the global telecommunications industry, led by service providers and their technology suppliers.
"We had strong growth plans for our mobile broadband services in the face of arduous competition and users' demand for greater control. It was understood that greater service agility was required to realize the ‘New Day – New Idea' project that would drive our business forward, supported by more efficiency, improved service delivery speed and the ability to deliver on customer expectations for transparency and control." Saeed AlHamli, CEO of Etisalat Egypt said
Etisalat Egypt rolled out Ericsson's Integrated Policy and Charging (EIPC) solution to enhance services for both mobile broadband and ADSL Internet subscribers, allowing them to merge services into flexible bundles and access the Internet from different devices with the same subscription fee. EIPC is a scalable, flexible BSS solution that delivers decoupling, configurability, convergent real-time charging and policy support, a strong user-experience focus and reduced TCO.
From his part, Rafiah Ibrahim, Head of Region Middle East, Ericsson, said: "We are pleased to have been recognized for this innovative project with Etisalat." Through this partnership, Etisalat has created an invaluable competitive advantage in a rapidly evolving marketplace. This improved service agility empowers them to deliver flexible, seamless convergence across services and address new OTT revenue opportunities. Etisalat customers also now have greater control and billing transparency, thereby ensuring a vastly improved customer experience. We are proud of our work together."
