Mobinil and Ericson bring next generation internet technology to Egypt
Published in Daily News Egypt on 22 - 05 - 2013

Mobinil has recently signed a cooperation agreement with Sweden's Ericsson Company, whereby the latter will modernise Mobinil's network to cater to high speed internet services.
The agreement also aims to provide its subscribers with the latest mobile broadband and internet offerings, with flexible billing options through Ericsson solutions.
“Since launching in 1998, we have striven to maintain our position as the leading mobile service operator in Egypt and honoured the trust of more than 30 million subscribers," said Yves Gauthier, CEO of Mobinil.
He continued, “With the help of Ericsson we are now positioned to introduce the latest services and innovative solutions that cater to the diverse and quickly evolving needs of Egyptian users".
The deal will see Mobinil utilise Ericsson's operations and business support systems (OSS/BSS), which include IT transformation, customer management and revenue management.
The deal also includes design, installation, and integration of the microwave backhaul by using MINI-LINK TN and MINI-LINK CN, which supports high capacities and a cost-efficient migration to packet transport.
"This collaboration with Ericsson, a leader in telecom services and solutions, will enable us to continue to provide the best services to our customers," said Yasser Shaker, Mobinil Technology Vice President. “We continue to be committed to maintaining our leadership in quality mobile services in Egypt."
Meanwhile, Isil Yalcin, President of Ericsson Northeast Africa emphasised that Egypt has seen a tremendous amount of growth in the communications market over the past few years and demands for a seamless broadband experience have only increased.
“We are committed to working with Mobinil to provide them with tailored and adaptable solutions that support them in their quest to offer the best possible experience to subscribers, and we look forward to further cooperation with Mobinil in the future," he said.
“The agreement has been signed already, and [is] under implementation," said deputy manager of Mobinil operations in Ericson, Ahmed Abdel Shafy.
He added, “Mobinil has signed two recent agreements with Ericson to modernise its network system to deliver services with high speed especially internet services".
He further pointed out that Mobinil is working to develop its network in compliance with broadband systems.
