Cultural cooperation between Italy and Egypt is strong and will be ever more so in the future. The Year of Egypt in Italy will be celebrated in 2015 and 2016 will be marked by the Year of Italy in Egypt. As a testament to this significant cultural bond, Egyptian Culture Minister, Gaber Asfour, will travel to Italy to meeet Italian Culture Minister Dario Franceschini on October 28. The Egyptian ambassador, Amr Helmy, said the drafting of new cultural initiatives including meetings, exhibitions and seminars, was on the agenda. ''Our aim - stressed the diplomat - is to showcase Egypt to the Italian public, Ancient Egypt but also contemporary Egypt with its society, artists and writers. ''On November 17 - added Helmy - the Egyptian Business Council' will hold meetings in Rome'. The delegation made up of Egyptian enterpreneurs will be led by Industry and Commerce Minister , Mounir Abdel Noor. ''We are certain that Egypt can offer great opportunites to Italian companies especially in the field of infrastructure, for example with the plan to double the size of the Suez Canal (for which Italian enterprises have already showed interest), renewable energies and agroindustry".
