Italian Ambassador to Cairo Claudio Pacifico said the country's foreign ministry has lifted a travel warning advising Italians not to visit Egypt. “Italian authorities are aware that life in Egypt returns back to normal,” he said, adding that Italy wants to support Egypt as the countries have always had strong ties and Egypt is a popular destination for Italian tourists. Pacifico said there had been cooperation among the two countries for years. He also expressed Italian willingness to boost cooperation through civil society, programs supporting universities and vocational training. In response, Egyptian Tourism Minister Mounir Fakhri abdel Nour highlighted the importance of relationships between Egypt and Italy, saying Italy had always been a partner for Egypt in different fields, especially tourism. During their meeting on Thursday, abdel Nour said his ministry is working hard to reactivate tourism in Egypt given the current circumstances. Egyptian authorities will pursue cultural events including one suggested to bring prominent American TV host Oprah Winfrey and singer Charles Aznavour to Egypt. Aznavour also expressed his desire to hold a concert in Tahrir Square.
