Egyptian presidential candidate Hamdeen Sabahi said Saturday he does not believe or trust in opponent Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi's capacities to end corruption in Egypt resulting from the two former political regimes — the Mubarak regime or Morsi regime. "I do not trust my rival's capabilities in purging corruption of the previous two regimes in Egypt. Already he has not announced his presidential programme officially," Sabahi said in a television interview with Al-Hayat TV. Nevertheless, Sabahi said he would congratulate Field Marshal El-Sisi if he wins the presidential elections. The founder of the Popular Current also added that despite the Egyptian people having toppled Mubarak's regime, the policies of that regime still survive. "If I'm elected president, I will work on bringing down the policies of both the Mubarak and Morsi regimes," he said. In the recorded interview, Sabahi stated that he did not need the votes of those who consider the January 25 Revolution as a regression. "I am not honoured by the votes of those who consider the January revolution as a defeat, because those are the people who benefited from the corruption of the Mubarak regime," he added. Sabahi also rejected those who consider the 30 June mass protests that eventually ousted Morsi a military coup. He repeated his promises to travel to Ethiopia as well Sudan as part of his first foreign tour if elected president in order to solve the Nile water crisis. He also assured that he would pardon all those imprisoned under the 2013 protest law, which would be amended. Egypt's presidential elections are scheduled to be held 26 and 27 May.
