Testimony And Evidence Presented At Retrial For Mubarak And Others
Published in Amwal Al Ghad on 11 - 02 - 2014

The Cairo Criminal Court heard a testimony and reviewed evidence in the retrial of ousted president Hosni Mubarak, his two sons Gamal and Alaa, former Interior Minister Habib El-Adly and business tycoon Hussein Salem on Monday.
Presidential guard Ahmed Ayman gave his testimony. In the next session, the court will hear the testimony of the head of Giza police, Kamal El-Daly.
During the hearing, the defence inspected reports on the use of weapons and tear gas.
The court adjourned until 8 March, requesting more information from the National Telecommunication Regulatory Authority.
The former president as well as El-Adly and six of his aides are accused of killing peaceful protesters during the January 2011 uprising.
Mubarak, his two sons and Salem face charges of illicit gains and squandering public funds. Mubarak and Salem are accused of selling natural gas abroad below market prices.
Salem, who holds Spanish nationality, is being tried in absentia. Spanish authorities will not extradite him because Spain and Egypt do not have an extradition treaty.
Mubarak and El-Adly both received life sentences in June 2012 on charges of political responsibility for the killing of peaceful protesters during the January 2011 uprising that led to Mubarak's ouster.
The verdicts were overturned in January 2013 by an appeals court on the grounds of procedural irregularities.
Mubarak was released from jail in August, but has been kept under house arrest at a military hospital in Maadi, a Cairo suburb.
