The Suez Canal Economic Zone Authority held a groundbreaking ceremony on Wednesday for China's Xinmin Glass factory in the Sokhna 360 Industrial City, part of the El-Sokhna Industrial Area, the authority said. The project spans more than 163,000 square metres, with total investments exceeding $70 million upon completion of its three phases. The first phase, valued at over $30 million. The factory will produce glassware, Pyrex products, and tableware with an annual capacity of over 516 million pieces, creating more than 3,000 jobs. The factory is part of the SCZONE's push to boost industrial capacity and expand high-value projects that serve domestic markets and support exports to regional and international markets, the authority added in a statement. The contract for the project was signed recently, with the first phase expected to begin operations in July 2026, marking a significant addition to the Suez Canal Economic Zone's efforts to attract specialised industrial investment.
