Egypt's Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant is expected to save the country between $2.5 billion and $3 billion annually, Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly said on Thursday. Speaking at a press conference, Madbouly said construction at the landmark project is proceeding according to schedule and on track to become fully operational by 2029, with its four reactors expected to generate 4,800 megawatts of electricity. "The plant's capacity is not just a number," he said. "It is a crucial addition to Egypt's energy mix, significantly reducing gas and petroleum consumption for electricity generation." Estimates from the ministries of electricity and petroleum suggest that the plant will cut reliance on conventional fuels, while providing stable and safe energy. With an expected operational lifespan of more than 60 years, El-Dabaa is considered one of Egypt's most strategic projects, contributing to long-term economic growth and energy security.
