Egypt's Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport Kamel El-Wazir flew to China on Monday as President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi's envoy for events marking the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance. The anniversary celebrations will be attended by heads of state, government leaders, and international delegations. Minister El-Wazir said in a statement that the visit reflects the strength of Egypt-China ties, elevated to a "comprehensive strategic partnership" in 2014. In January, the two countries signed a 2024–2028 executive programme to deepen cooperation. He added that China is Egypt's largest trading partner and urged more Chinese companies to invest in Egypt, particularly in industry and infrastructure. Minister El-Wazir is scheduled to hold talks with executives from leading Chinese firms to review existing projects and explore new investment opportunities in Egypt.
