Egypt is courting Kuwaiti investment in its agricultural sector as Cairo looks to strengthen regional partnerships to bolster food security and expand export markets. Minister of Agriculture Alaa Farouk met with Mohamed Gaber Abou El Wafa, Egypt's incoming ambassador to Kuwait, on Monday to outline potential areas of cooperation. The talks focused on agricultural investment, land reclamation, poultry and fish farming, and agri-processing, according to a statement from the agriculture ministry. Minister Farouk highlighted reforms introduced to improve Egypt's investment climate and said Kuwaiti investors would be invited to visit to assess opportunities on the ground. He added that Egypt could export technical expertise in pest control, veterinary medicines and livestock production. Egypt is also seeking to expand exports of fresh produce to Kuwait, which already imports significant volumes of Egyptian fruit and vegetables. Abou El-Wafa said agriculture would be a priority during his assignment in Kuwait, praising Egypt's progress in the sector and stressing the need to translate bilateral discussions into tangible investment and trade projects.
