Egypt and Lebanon launched on Tuesday the fifth session of their Joint Technical Agricultural Committee in Cairo, aiming to strengthen cooperation in food security, investment and trade, Egypt's agriculture ministry said in a statement. Egyptian Agriculture Minister Alaa Farouk said the two countries would work to expand collaboration in agriculture, livestock and agri-industrial projects, citing Egypt's land reclamation drive, greenhouse programme, and investments in food processing under President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi's leadership. His Lebanese counterpart Nizar Hani praised Egypt's large-scale agricultural projects and said Beirut seeks to draw on Cairo's expertise to support sustainable development in Lebanon's farming sector. The ministers said the committee will develop executive mechanisms to facilitate the exchange of products and expertise, with memoranda of understanding expected to be signed in October, according to the statement.
