Egypt's Ministry of Agriculture has signed a cooperation protocol between the Agricultural Research Centre (ARC) and King Faisal University in Chad to strengthen applied research and agricultural development, the Ministry said in a statement. Adel Abdel Azim, head of the ARC, said the protocol marks the start of broader collaboration in applied research and sustainable agricultural development programmes, the statement added. The partnership will focus on exchanging expertise in seeds and high-yield climate-adaptable varieties, and advancing modern agricultural technologies and mechanisation to support training and capacity building for Chadian staff. Abdel Azim highlighted the centre's role in achieving Egypt's food security and increasing agricultural exports, noting the importance of sharing knowledge and experience with partner countries, starting with Chad. Chad's Ambassador in Cairo, Mohamed Abdel Karim Hanno, commended Egypt's agricultural expertise and suggested setting up a research farm at Chad's King Faisal University with ARC experts to improve student training.
