Egypt's Water Resources and Irrigation Minister Hani Swailam met representatives of the Swedish Trade and Invest Council (Business Sweden) on the sidelines of the World Water Week being held in Stockholm to discuss potential areas of cooperation, the Cabinet said on Wednesday. The meeting highlighted the council's achievements and experiences in various fields, particularly water-related issues, and explored potential collaboration between the ministry and the council, the statement added. Swailam highlighted the ministry's ongoing comprehensive modernisation efforts under the "Irrigation 2.0" system, which integrates advanced technologies into water management, as stated in the release. The system includes expanding agricultural drainage water treatment and reuse, applying integrated water resources management principles, advancing digital transformation, and utilising satellite imagery and mathematical models for water governance. The minister emphasised the importance of strengthening cooperation and exchanging expertise with the Swedish side to leverage modern technologies in water management, as per the statement. Business Sweden, a semi-governmental body and public-private partnership, supports Swedish companies in entering new markets and facilitates foreign investment in Sweden.
