Egypt's Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly invited Japan's Toyota Tsusho Group to increase investments in the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE), highlighting incentives and market access opportunities. During a Thursday meeting with the group's Chairman Nobuhiko Murakami on the sidelines of TICAD 9 in Yokohama, Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly praised Toyota Tsusho's 93-year presence in Egypt. He highlighted its work in renewable energy, healthcare, food and the automotive sector, and expressed hope to finalise a memorandum on technical education with Japanese partners soon. For his part, Murakami outlined the group's operations in Egypt, including Toyota Motor's car assembly, the RoRo terminal at East Port Said Port, the 5MW Ras Ghareb and 650MW Red Sea wind projects, and healthcare equipment supply. He added that the company exports Egyptian food and beverages to Japan and supports the E-JUST scholarship, with a new phase planned from 2026 to 2030. Moreover, Murakami highlighted that the company has also signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Egypt's Ministries of Industry and Investment to localise automotive production. Beyond Egypt, the company operates across Africa in transport, green infrastructure, and healthcare, employing one-third of its global workforce on the continent, he said.
