Egypt has delivered about 70 per cent of the total humanitarian and relief assistance sent to Gaza since the outbreak of the war, the Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday, detailing the scale of its ongoing aid operations. A ministry statement said Egypt had provided more than 550,000 tons of medical supplies and food to Gaza, alongside 168 airdrops carrying 3,730 tons of aid. El-Arish airport in North Sinai has so far received 1,022 cargo planes with 27,247 tons of humanitarian assistance, while 591 shipments have been handled through Egyptian ports, the statement added. On medical support, Egypt said it had deployed 209 ambulances and hosted 18,560 wounded Palestinians and their companions between November 2023 and July 2025. Treatment was provided across 172 Egyptian hospitals, with some 91,850 medical examinations and surgical procedures carried out. Between July 27 and Aug. 17 this year, 1,288 trucks entered Gaza through the Kerem Shalom crossing, while around 5,000 more trucks loaded with humanitarian aid remain on the Egyptian side awaiting entry, the ministry said. It also highlighted the role of civil society, noting that 35,000 volunteers from Egyptian NGOs have participated in facilitating aid delivery.
