Egyptian and Jordanian ministers taking part in the Joint Higher Committee meetings, held on Tuesday under the chairmanship of the prime ministers of both countries, reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation in various sectors. Egypt's Minister of Industry and Transport Kamel El Wazir highlighted significant opportunities for cooperation in integrated industries, land transport, and transit shipments to third countries. He also noted the potential to expand cooperation with Amman through the Arab Bridge Maritime Company, with continued coordination in the coming period. Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation Rania Al Mashat praised coordination with Jordan, both bilaterally and in international and regional forums. She pointed to shared challenges facing both countries amid current regional and global crises and stressed the presence of promising opportunities across various sectors. She pledged to follow up on cooperation files ahead of the next session of the Joint Higher Committee. Meanwhile, Egypt's Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mahmoud Esmat underlined the importance of electrical interconnection between the two countries, which could also benefit others in the future. He praised recent coordination during the use of regasification vessels and Egypt's support for Jordan through gas supplies during recent disruptions. He confirmed plans to coordinate with Jordan to raise the interconnection capacity to 2,000 megawatts in the coming period. Jordan's Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply Yarub Al Qudah reviewed promising opportunities for cooperation and said preparations were under way to hold an investment forum before the end of the year, alongside multiple trade exhibitions in both countries. He also mentioned studying the possibility of increasing the electrical interconnection capacity to 2,000 megawatts.
