Egypt and Hungary are looking to expand cooperation in healthcare, with plans for joint training programmes, pharmaceutical manufacturing and public health initiatives, Egypt's health ministry said Tuesday. Minister of Health Khaled Abdel Ghaffar met Hungarian Ambassador to Cairo Rita Herençsár in the New Administrative Capital to review existing projects and outline new areas of collaboration. Talks covered advanced training for doctors and nurses, joint work on "One Health" strategies to tackle zoonotic diseases and antimicrobial resistance, and efforts to address climate-related health risks. The two sides also discussed cooperation in family medicine, reproductive health, vaccines, and non-communicable disease prevention. Preparations are under way for Minister Abdel Ghaffar to visit Hungary in October, the ministry said. Egypt also briefed the Hungarian side on its medical support for injured Palestinians since the start of the Gaza war, exploring ways for Hungary to help with medicines and equipment. Herençsár praised Egypt's progress in the health sector and reaffirmed Hungary's interest in strengthening ties. Attribution: Amwal Al Ghad English Subediting: Y.Yasser
