Egyptian National Railways Authority (NAT) on Sunday operated a third special train to facilitate the voluntary return of Sudanese citizens residing in Egypt, according to a Cabinet announcement. Train No. 1940, a third-class air-conditioned service, departed from Cairo Station on August 3, 2025, at 11:00am on Sunday. The train, carrying around 1,000 Sudanese passengers, is part of Egypt's broader national efforts to provide dignified, supported, and secure transport until passengers reach the Nile Port of the High Dam for further travel to the Sudan. This trip follows a series of similar train tips launched over the past two weeks as part of Egypt's ongoing commitment to supporting Sudanese citizens and easing their voluntary return. The NAT reiterated its commitment to providing all necessary technical and logistical resources to ensure smooth and organised passenger movement, citing the deep-rooted historical ties between the peoples of the Nile Valley.
