Egypt and Türkiye's foreign ministers condemned Israel's "systematic starvation policy" in Gaza and called for urgent international action to halt the assault, secure the release of hostages and uphold international law, Egypt's foreign ministry said Sunday. In a phone call, Egypt's Badr Abdel-Atty briefed Türkiye's Hakan Fidan on Cairo's coordination with Qatar and the United States to revive a ceasefire and accelerate the delivery of humanitarian, medical and shelter aid to the enclave. Both ministers stressed the need to increase aid truck access and maintain joint engagement with international partners to secure a ceasefire. The discussion also touched on regional developments in Syria and Libya. The ministers praised strengthening ties between Cairo and Ankara, citing increased high-level visits as both countries mark 100 years of diplomatic relations in 2025. They reaffirmed a shared goal of raising annual trade to $15 billion and expanding Turkish investment in Egypt, in line with agreements from the first High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council meeting in September 2024.
