Egypt has exported its first shipment of seed potato minitubers to Uzbekistan, following successful efforts to open up the Uzbek market, the Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation announced on Wednesday. The move aims to boost Egypt's seed production capacity and establish its position on the global seed export map, said Mohamed El-Mansy, Head of Egypt's Central Administration of Agricultural Quarantine. El-Mansy noted that the ministry's Plant Health Unit established an operations room to prepare the technical file for export minitubers in coordination with relevant bodies. The first consignment of the minitubers has now been shipped, with preparations underway for subsequent consignments in cooperation with export partners.
