President Abdel Fattah El Sisi on Sunday stressed the need to complete all national projects according to their set timelines. He directed continued efforts to accelerate the implementation of integrated development logistics corridors linking production areas with seaports currently under development. The goal, he said, is to establish world-class hub ports with large handling capacities, integrated with Egypt's modern transport network, including roads, axes, and railways. This would provide the necessary foundations to transform Egypt into a global trade and logistics centre. During a meeting with the ministers of industry and transport, President Sisi reviewed the progress of transport and industry projects, with a focus on railway initiatives such as the Arish–Taba railway and the completion of the Bir Al-Abd–Arish line. These lines are expected to support development in the Sinai Peninsula and create a logistics axis connecting the Red Sea to the Mediterranean. The meeting also reviewed updates on port development, given their key role in the state's development agenda. Progress was presented on the construction and upgrading of several seaports, including Ras Sudr, Gargoub, Abu Qir, the Grand Port of Alexandria, the new Port of El Max, Ain Sokhna, Taba, and Damietta. Other discussions included the construction of Cairo's fourth metro line and the high-speed electric train. President Sisi also followed up on efforts to develop industrial zones in Wadi Al-Sirriya and Al-Motahhara in Minya, and northern Fayoum. These initiatives aim to boost industrial growth in Upper Egypt and generate employment, particularly in labour-intensive sectors such as textiles and ready-made clothing.
