Egypt's Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly held a meeting on Monday to review efforts to develop the country's sugar industry, with a focus on boosting local production and reducing reliance on imports amid global supply chain challenges. The meeting discussed key pillars of the national strategy to grow the sugar sector, particularly in light of the expansion of sugar beet cultivation in areas managed by the Future of Egypt Authority for Sustainable Development. Prime Minister Madbouly also reviewed plans to enhance related industries and maximise the value of sugar by-products. The discussions further covered environmental reform efforts across sugar factories, with a focus on compliance with environmental standards and implementing measures to ensure long-term sustainability.
