Egypt's Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly affirmed on Sunday that the country's strategic reserves of essential commodities remain sufficient, with ongoing efforts to further increase stockpiles in coordination with relevant authorities, according to a Cabinet statement. His remarks came during a meeting with several ministers to review the availability of staples and storage capacity. The discussions also covered key initiatives aimed at boosting the country's ability to store basic agricultural commodities and meet national needs. Among the projects highlighted was the grain silo development initiative, part of the Future of Egypt for Sustainable Development Authority's logistics programme. The silo system is designed to enhance year-round storage capabilities, with a total capacity of 500,000 tons, representing a major upgrade in Egypt's grain storage infrastructure. The meeting also reviewed efforts by the Future of Egypt Authority to reduce reliance on imports through expanded domestic cultivation of strategic crops, most notably wheat.
